TRENTON – Senator Shirley K. Turner (D-Mercer and Hunterdon) today issued the following statement on the selection by Governor-elect Phil Murphy of Elizabeth Muoio to serve as state Treasurer:

“I am delighted with this announcement and offer my heartfelt congratulations to my friend, running mate, and colleague on being selected to serve as our next State Treasurer.  It’s a real feather in Mercer County’s cap, especially for the 15th District, that the governor-elect has recognized Liz’s talent and abilities, something that we already knew.

“The governor-elect’s selection of Liz is a well-deserved reward for her dedicated public service at the local and county levels, her hard work in the Legislature, and her conscientious efforts on behalf of our residents.

“Liz has been an invaluable asset to the residents of the 15th Legislative District, and she will be missed in the Legislature.  However, with her experience and her knowledge of government, the governor-elect is gaining an outstanding cabinet member and the residents of New Jersey are gaining a passionate and committed public servant.

“I look forward to Liz’s confirmation and to working with her to create fairer fiscal policies that will help all of New Jersey.”
