Senator Turner Renamed Chair Of Senate Education Committee

TRENTON – Today, Senate President Richard J. Codey announced that Senator Shirley K. Turner will once again serve as the Chair of the Senate Education Committee.

“I look forward to once again working with Senate President Codey and the rest of my fellow Senators to move forward with a progressive agenda to improve New Jersey’s education system,” said Senator Turner, D-Mercer. “Our schools will be facing many new hurdles in the coming year as we come to fully understand the impact that the new funding formula will have. The Education Committee will need to make sure that every child in New Jersey still gets the high quality education they deserve.”

Senator M. Theresa Ruiz will become the Committee’s new Vice Chair. Joining Senators Turner and Ruiz on the Committee for the 2008-2009 term will be Senator Jim Whelan.
