TRENTON – In recognition of his business-friendly policies and economic development initiatives, Senator Troy Singleton was awarded the “Public Voice Award” by the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce at the Voice of Business 2018 Awards Ceremony in Cinnaminson on April 30.

“While serving in both chambers of the Legislature, I have focused many of my efforts on initiatives that would bring economic growth to our communities and workforce development to our employers,” said Senator Singleton (D-Burlington). “It is an absolute honor to win the Public Voice Award and I offer my sincerest thanks to the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce for this recognition.”

According to the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s website, the Public Voice Award is awarded to an elected official or government entity at the municipal, county, state or national level.  If a nominee is an individual, he/she must have served in an elected capacity for a minimum of two years (past or present).  They must also be a proven ally to the business community and helped to enrich the area’s economic development.  The nominee’s actions have resulted in a strong, positive business climate in Burlington County.

“As an advocate on behalf of South Jersey, I consistently promote our region – specifically Burlington County – as a destination for businesses,” explained Senator Singleton. “Whether I am speaking at conferences, on panels or at committee hearings, I tout the merits of Burlington County’s prime location with proximity to both New York and Philadelphia, as well as our access to skilled labor.”

Senator Singleton currently sits on the Senate Economic Growth Committee as the Vice Chair, where he has sponsored numerous bills aimed at increasing economic growth in Burlington County and in New Jersey. As an Assemblyman, he sponsored the Economic Opportunity Act of 2013 which led directly to several major companies staying and growing their businesses in the Burlington County region. Additionally, he has worked to streamline the regulatory process, revamp the state’s economic development tax incentives, and modify the tax code to reward innovation and job creation.

“I regularly engage the business community, through organizations like the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce, when developing pragmatic solutions and good public policy. These solutions are often straight-forward, yet forward-thinking,” said Senator Singleton.
