15 Mar: Norcross/Madden Bill To Aid Families Of Officers, Emergency Responders Killed In The Line Of Duty Clears Senate

TRENTON – Legislation sponsored by Senators Donald Norcross (D-Camden/Gloucester) and Fred Madden (D-Gloucester/Camden) to aid the families of fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical responders and correctional officers by providing assistance to help cover funeral costs was approved today by the full Senate.

“New Jersey’s public safety officers put their lives on the line every day in an effort to keep the residents of this state safe,” said Senator Norcross. “Unfortunately, there are times when these courageous men and women pay the ultimate sacrifice. We owe it to these heroes and their families to honor their tremendous contribution to this state, and this bill allows us to do so.”

“The families of public safety officers sacrifice a great deal so that residents across New Jersey are protected,” said Senator Madden. “While there is no way to ever fully repay the families of fallen officers for their sacrifice, we can show our support by helping them in their greatest time of need. Making this contribution is a small way for our state to say ‘thank you’ to the families of these officers for their loved one’s service and for their own sacrifice.”

27 Feb: Norcross/Madden Bill To Aid Families Of Officers, Emergency Responders Killed In The Line Of Duty Clears Budget Committee

TRENTON – Legislation sponsored by Senators Donald Norcross (D-Camden/Gloucester) and Fred Madden (D-Gloucester/Camden) to aid the families of fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical responders and correctional officers by providing assistance to help cover funeral costs was approved today by the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.

“New Jersey’s officers and first responders have made it their life’s work to protect the residents of the state,” said Senator Norcross. “When one of these individuals pays the ultimate price while in the line of duty, it is our obligation to show them the respect and honor they deserve. Making a contribution toward the cost of their funeral services is just one way that we can express our gratitude for their unwavering dedication to this state.”

“The family members of our fallen officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel have given so much so that our residents can be safe. It is only fitting that when we are able to, we give something back to those families,” said Senator Madden. “This contribution is a small way to show our support for all they have done for New Jersey and for the tremendous sacrifice they have made for the residents of our state.”

23 Jan: Norcross/Madden Bill To Aid Families Of Officers, Emergency Responders Killed In The Line Of Duty Clears Law & Public Safety Committee

TRENTON – Legislation sponsored by Senators Donald Norcross (D-Camden/Gloucester) and Fred Madden (D-Gloucester/Camden) to aid the families of fallen police officers, firefighters, emergency medical responders and correctional officers by providing assistance to help cover funeral costs was approved today by Senate Law and Public Safety Committee.

“Thousands of men and women risk their lives every day to protect the residents of this state. Unfortunately, there are times when these individuals pay the ultimate price while in the line of duty,” said Senator Norcross, chair of the committee. “This bill allows us to give something back to their families by making a contribution to defray the cost of the funeral services. This is the right thing to do for the heroes that gave so much to our state but, more than that, it is our obligation.”

“There is no way to ever fully repay the families of our fallen first responders for the sacrifice they have made in the name of public safety,” said Senator Madden. “But we can show our gratitude for their loved one’s service, and their own sacrifice, by helping to ease the financial burden when they are in their greatest time of need. This legislation allows us to make a contribution to the cost of funeral services for these brave men and women, which is the least we can do for the officers, firefighters and medical responders who made it their life’s work to serve the residents of our state.”
