Weinberg Statement on Passing of Senator Jim Whelan

Senator Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, speaks while Assemblyman Jim Whelan, D-Atlantic, looks on at a news conference to unveil their legislation to give elderly and disabled residents a choice in receiving home health care in New Jersey.

TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg issued the following statement on the passing of state Senator Jim Whelan:

“Jim Whelan was one of our most respected state senators. He taught me how you can be a team player while standing up for the issues that are important and in which you believe. He was everything we would want in a representative – he was a man of integrity, intellect, with the ability to make friends on both sides of the aisle. The Senate, our Senate President Steve Sweeney, and indeed all of us throughout New Jersey will miss him. I send my heartfelt condolences to Jim’s wife and family.”
