Senate President Sweeney Honors American Red Cross

Trenton – The American Red Cross New Jersey Region was on hand today to receive a Ceremonial Joint Legislative Resolution, honoring their service to the people of New Jersey. Senate President Steve Sweeney issued the following statement:

“The American Red Cross brings together volunteers and resources to provide shelter and assistance to our communities during our most vulnerable moments,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “Their unwavering commitment to disaster relief efforts, as displayed during Hurricane Sandy, and emphasizing the importance of blood drives in our communities represents the best in American values.

“The Red Cross is always there to provide a helping hand to communities across the nation and they have been there constantly for the people of New Jersey. This resolution commemorates the efforts of the Red Cross and their volunteers. They epitomize what it means to be a hero and I thank them for their goodwill and their continued service.”

“It is a true honor for the Red Cross to receive this resolution today, by none other than Senator Sweeney himself,” said Executive Director, American Red Cross of Southwestern New Jersey Madhuri Rodriguez. “Senator Sweeney has been one of our biggest supporters and we are so appreciative to the Senator for taking the time to recognize our mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering.”

The American Red Cross proudly serves over 8.8 million people in New Jersey. The region includes six chapter locations and four blood donation centers.
