Mr. Moriarty was elected to the Senate in November 2023. He previously served in the Assembly, representing the 4th District from 2006-2024. He was Deputy Speaker from 2018-2024.

Raised in Salem, Massachusetts, the senator has been a resident of Washington Township (Gloucester) since 1996, where he previously served as its mayor from 2005-2008. He also served on the State House Commission from 2012-2023.

Moriarty worked as an investigative journalist at KYW-TV for 17 years, protecting consumer rights and investigating unscrupulous or unethical businesses. He has received over 30 Emmy Awards, honors from the National Press Association, the Associated Press, and the Radio-Television News Directors Association.

The senator holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Temple University.

He and his wife Lisa have a daughter, Meghan.
