New Jersey’s minimum wage increased to $10 an hour this week, the first step in the process to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024. Senate President Steve Sweeney was on hand to celebrate the merger between Rowan College of Gloucester County and Cumberland County College, creating Rowan College of South Jersey. The state’s medical marijuana program will be vastly expanded under the terms of the newly signed “Jake Honig Compassionate Use Medical Cannabis Act.” Lastly, the Legislature’s balanced, sustainable budget with no broad new taxes and a $1.4 billion surplus was signed into law.
