The Senate and the Assembly approved bipartisan legislation this week sponsored by Senate President Steve Sweeney and Senators Nellie Pou and Steve Oroho that implements a New Jersey Job-Sharing Furlough Program that capitalizes on key provisions of the federal CARES Act. Students who are losing time crucial to their academic careers due to COVID-19 school closings would be offered the opportunity of a “bridge year,” through legislation approved by the Senate. Lastly, Senator Linda Greenstein held a hearing on the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women following the report of a federal investigation into allegations of rampant sexual abuse.
